Another Successful Meeting in the Books!
2021 Annual Conference and Trade Show
August 3 – 4, 2021 * Milwaukee, WI
Members come together for a fun and productive Annual Meeting!
The Wisconsin Amusement and Music Operators Association (WAMO) held their fun-filled and informative Annual Conference and Tradeshow in Milwaukee Tuesday August 2nd through Wednesday August 3rd. Immediate Past President and Conference Committee Chair Steve Murphy created a fantastic event filled with business, networking, and a whole lot of fun!
Tuesday featured exciting networking events for operator members and exhibitors, including a chartered fishing trip on Lake Michigan and a well-attended golf outing at the Morningstar Golf Club.
Tuesday also offered training and troubleshooting for operators’ staff with several popular gaming vendors and WAMO Trade Members Primero Games, Big Daddy Games and Banilla Games!
Attendees finished the day by watching the Brewers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates from the exclusive Northwest Mutual Legends Club – named one of the top five luxury areas in all baseball stadiums by Forbes Magazine! WAMO’s exclusive space featured ample seating and room to walk about and mingle before and during the game. Good drinks, great food and fellowship were enjoyed by all in attendance.
Wednesday started off all business for the operators with a legislative update by WAMO lobbyist Steve Conway and business meeting where WAMO members re-elected Brad Coubal (Northwest Coin Machine – Bloomer) and Jimmy Patch (Allied Games – Beloit) to their second term on the Board of Directors. Members elected Neil Gilbertson (Northern Lakes Amusement – Hurley) to return to the Board and fill the final Directors position. We would like to thank Carl Dentice for his service and leadership during his two terms on the WAMO Board of Directors!
The morning concluded with a special presentation by Russ Bredeson and Todd Lambie from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue title, “Tax Issues for Amusement Device Operators.” Click here for additional information and to download the presentation (member-only access).
The action continued during lunch where special guest and luncheon speaker AMOA President Sam Westgate provided a national update.
After lunch, the packed tradeshow opened, where valued WAMO trade members and industry manufacturers had the opportunity to show off their latest products, games and services. Special thanks to these WAMO Trade Members for their participation and support year-round:

While the operators were tied up in meetings, the spouses enjoyed a day on the town beginning with baker Toren Engseth, otherwise known as “Madame Macaron”, learning the steps and techniques of preparing the ever-challenging French macarons. They worked in teams and everyone went home with their own fresh French macarons and a fabulous recipe to make at home. They finished their outing at Mollie’s Tea – a unique experience in a historic Milwaukee mansion starting out with a lesson on 1800’s tea etiquette, a buffet of 7 different teas to sip and sample plus a variety of savories, scones and sweets to enjoy. During tea, the spouses were entertained with history and stories of Victorian times and a tour of the mansion.
The conference concluded Wednesday with a banquet and rapid-fire live auction. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s auction possible: Scott Dougherty, Penny Donaldson, Jon Kleiman, and auctioneer Steve Liebe.
Special thanks to Valley Dynamo for sponsoring the Tradeshow Reception.
We would also like to recognize and express our sincere appreciation to Banilla Games for their generous support of this year’s conference, including the Monday night welcome reception, prizes for technicians and fishermen and donating to the auction two full size games in metal cabinets with bill acceptors and software of buyers’ choice!!
Every year gets better and better…We look forward to seeing everyone in 2022!
